Your Next Chapter Starts Today

I had a conversation recently with a candidate who reminded me how powerful growth can be—especially when we take a moment to actually see it in ourselves.

So often, we’re moving fast. Head down, just trying to get through the day, the week, the quarter. We overlook the progress we’re making in real time. But when we pause and reflect, we often realize something important:

We’re growing, even in the quiet moments.

This candidate started their career during COVID—working remotely in customer service and sales. Like many during that time, their work was done over the phone, often in isolation, day in and day out. Fast-forward to now: they’ve spent the last year in their first in-person sales role, and the difference is night and day.

They told me how much they love being face-to-face.

The energy. The interaction. The human connection.

You could hear the passion in their voice—it lit them up.

That moment reminded me of something Gail Budde once shared with me (credit to an unknown originator):

“Sales is merely the exchange of energy from one person to the next.”

And that’s not just true in sales—it applies to every role, every day.

Whether you’re behind the scenes or on the front lines, how you show up matters. Your energy, your growth, and your contribution all have impact.

So, I challenge you to pause and ask yourself:

• What do I want to learn today in my role?

• Where am I growing this week?

• What am I bringing to the table—right now, in this season of my journey?

And if you’re applying for a new role or chasing your next opportunity, here’s what I really want you to hear:

Be prepared to talk about your story—your growth, your learning, your impact.

It doesn’t matter if your background includes cashiering at a grocery store or managing a team of 50.

You played a role in that business. You made a difference.

So what was it? What did you learn? How did you grow?

You don’t need to compete with someone else’s timeline. You don’t have to measure your journey against someone else’s story.

Your path is your own. Progress is personal. And you have every right to be proud of how far you’ve come.

There are incredible organizations out there looking for talent just like yours.

People who are ready to show up, grow, and step into their next chapter.

So, if you’re reading this and wondering if your story matters—it does.

And the best part? You’re the one writing the next chapter.
